Backup & Restore Apps in Windows Phone


The Windows Phone OS is now come up with a new attractive utility of Backup for App other than SMS, settings of your phone etc. Instead of rolling up the device restore, the new inbuilt utility will helps the user to backup the personal stuffs during migration from current phone to another. So that the user could easily restore that stuff very easily. It will also eliminates the inconvenience of the user and a loss of hours of valuable engagement with the app used in old phone. The different types of backup features are.

App Backup:
This feature mainly saves the backup copy of apps which you are using it currently. There is also an option to save this to cloud.

Text Messages:
This allows to save the backup copy of your valuable text messages (SMS).

Phone Settings:
Used to save a copy of Start Screen Layout, Browder Favorites and Theme Color.

Backup
Steps to Backup files in your Phone

  1. At first go to Apps -> Settings -> Backup -> App list + Settings.
  2. Then turn on the backup which you need.

  • App Backup ON/OFF
  • Settings Backup ON/OFF
  • Text Messages and Photo
  • Device name with last backup time shows when the last backup was done

Manage Backup will be used to delete previously stored backup data by marking up the check boxes given along with it.
  • Once you delete the backup data then it cannot be restored.
  • When you select the option for Text messages and Photo. Keep it in mind that Photo cannot be restored. But it can be uploaded to OneDrive and get access it at any time which we need.

To find Backup data

  • Go to Apps -> Settings -> Backup -> App list + Settings -> Manage Backups.

Restore:

Restore will be mainly done after a reset. Before doing a reset make sure that you have done the backup by following the above mentioned step, because backup is a periodic process. During reset process you will be prompted to sign-in-or skip. Select skip if you don’t like to restore. After skipping this you can’t restore the backup of app, accounts, app installation, start screen layout etc. So don’t click on skip if you need to restore the backup other than text messages and phone settings.

Then select the option sign in and make sure that you have selected all the required backup. Wait until the restore get completed.
