Facebook Android app consume less data

Facebook's new Android app consumes 50 percent less data and 65 percent lighter than before. The social networking giant mainly aims to improve the quality of service for its users. Data efficiency get increased by using the WebP for transmitting Facebook images results in data savings when compared with JPG and PNG format. This all happened without perceived impact on quality.

In past, images were loaded at maximum resolution to allow zoom-in feature. Now the process of loading images has been changed to the requested resolution equivalent to the size of view port in which image get appeared. Instead of loading a full image, the device only loads the image it needs to show such as a thumbnail. If someone wants to zoom-in an image then, the image will be changed to higher resolution. Otherwise images will be loaded at a resolution that devices had the ability to handle.

In combination with better data usage for images, reports of slow or failed image loads dropped by almost 90 percent than earlier. This will boost up the speed of the application by a great extent and helps to use the Facebook in a much fast manner. The new app has various different facilities on liking and tagging post than before.
