Tips to increase Battery life


    Today Smartphones has become one of the essential part of our life. We couldn’t imagine a day without this because we use it daily mainly to access different apps, saving our personnel stuffs and many more. But we are not bothered about the battery usage. I will tell some methods to save our phone’s battery life so that it can be used for longer period than before.

 1. Battery Saver

By using Battery Saver method battery life of your Windows phone will last longer. After using any app in your Windows phone try to close it from the option otherwise, it will get worked in background consuming battery charge. We can close all nonessential features which gets worked in background by using Battery Saver option.
  • Tap App list -> Settings -> Battery Saver -> Turn ON (for Windows 8.1 phone)
  • Settings -> Battery Saver -> Turn ON (for Windows 8 phone)

After Battery Saver is turned ON then,
  • All background apps will not get functioned until you open it.
  • Automatic retrieve of emails and calendar get stopped. If you have to update it then do it manually.
  • Live tile which receive push updates will not be updated.

We choose three different options when Battery Saver get activated. The heart icon inside battery level indicator is displayed  when Battery Saver is running. Tap on Advanced option given below Battery Saver. Choose whether Battery Saver is activated when battery is below 20%, only stays active until the phone is next charged, active all the time.

 2. Screen Brightness

When Screen Brightness is set to High then your phone consume much battery power. Sometimes Auto adjust brightness is ON. Then turn it OFF and select Low brightness option.
  • App list -> Settings -> Brightness

Changing your white background to black color will also saves battery power.

 3. Turn off wireless connections

Turn off wireless connections such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC after using it. We all leave Bluetooth of our device in ON condition after using it. This consume a lot of power so don’t forget to turn it OFF. Use wired headsets other 

than Bluetooth headsets.

 4. Charging method

When charging your new Windows phone for the first time after purchase charge it completely. Sometimes it shows the battery completed message suddenly. Then turn it OFF and once again charge it. Now it indicates the correct battery level so charge up to 100% before using it.

Charge your battery only when it reaches below 10 %. Try to charge it until it shows battery full. Turn OFF charger immediately after charging is completed.

 5. Turn OFF GPS

Turn OFF GPS when it is not get used. Otherwise it will drain your battery in a fast manner. Turn it ON when you are using any location based apps in your Windows phone.

 6. Lock screen time

Always set a very low time to lock the screen. So your phone gets locked faster.
App list -> Settings -> Lock screen then, set the time to at least 30 seconds.

 7. Increase Email Sync time

If you have enabled any Email account to get synchronized but you are using it frequently. Then turn Sync time to 30 minutes, 2 hours or set it to manually.
  • App list -> Settings -> Email + Accounts open your account change the option under Download new content.

 8. Turn OFF Xbox

If you don’t like to upload your Game scores, Achievement then turn it off.
  • App list -> Settings -> Applications-> Games -> turn off Connect with Xbox
The music can also be turned OFF if you don’t use Xbox Music.
  • App list -> Settings -> Applications -> Music + Videos -> turn off connect with Xbox Music.

 9. Regular updates

New updates of your phone will fix certain Bugs. So make it sure that you are using the current software itself.
  • App list -> Settings -> Phone updates and for app update
  • App list -> Store -> Updates

 10. Turn ON Air plane mode

This will turn OFF all wireless connections like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC and Cellular data.
